STUDENTS LEARN
 

• Basic to advanced Tabla techniques.
• To recite Taals (rhythmic cycles) and different types of compositions in them.
• To play different Taals and simple to complex compositions in them from different Gharanas (schools).
• To structure and play solo.
• To accompany vocal, instrumental music and dance.
• History of Tabla, of different Gharanas, biographies and an over all understanding of Indian music.
• To identify and appreciate the specialties of different Gharanas.

SCHOOL RULES
 

• Address the Guru as Guruji or Samirji.
• Do not touch Tabla with feet or step over them.
• Don’t ever face the Guru with your feet.
• Wear suitable loose clothing.
• Inform the Guru in advance about absence.
• Must come to class with Tabla in good condition. Contact the school for purchase or repair, if necessary.
• Keep notes and be prepared to show them when asked.
• Practice daily for the time set by the Guru.
• Come to class 10 minutes early.
• Non-intrusive recording is allowed.

ADMISSION

    Students will be accepted from 5 years of age. The Guru determines the level of class on the basis of information in the registration form and/or by an interview.

    Guru reserves absolute right to accept or refuse a student.

PAYMENT

    To register, payment is required for the entire session, as specified in the registration. Payment can be made by check, credit card or in cash. Make all checks payable to Chhandayan Inc. and mail to Chhandayan address. For credit card payment, please provide us with your credit card information.

    Private lessons can be paid per lesson.

    If paying in person, please put the payment in an envelope with the name of the student and place it noticeably as advised by the Guru.

REFUNDS
 

• All Refunds are made by check.
• The decision to unregister from the class needs to be directly communicated and confirmed within two days after the last class attended.
• After the first class, full refund less the cost of first class.
• After the second class, 50%.
• After the third class no refund.
• If the Guru cancels a class, he will schedule a make-up class. If a student is unable to attend the make-up class, Chhandayan will refund the payment for that class.
