Dibyarka Chatterjee is a young and promising Tabla player from the Farrukhabad Gharana. His natural inclination towards music became evident shortly after his birth, and at the age of five he was initiated by his father Pandit Samir Chatterjee, a world-renowned Tabla maestro. Since then he has been going through the rigorous discipline of lessons and practice according to the ancient guru-shishya parampara (master-disciple tradition).

Dibyarka was born in Kolkata and spent first ten years of his life there. By that age he was already performing in concerts as well as on Akaashbani Kolkata (Kolkata Radio). After moving to the U.S. with his family, he was quickly recognized for his talent by music lovers and Tabla enthusiasts. Since then he has performed with many imminent musicians like Smt. Lakshmi Shankar, Smt. Joya Biswas, Pt. Falguni Mitra, Ud. Mashkoor Ali Khan, Pt. Ramesh Mishra, Pt. Samarendra Sikdar, Smt. Shubhra Guha, Sri Partha Bose, Sri Debojyoti Bose, Sri Snehasish Mozumder, Smt. Tripti Mukherjee, Steve Gorn, Hidayat Khan and many others. He has collaborated with groups like the Dance Theater of Harlem in 'South African Suite', Battery Dance Co. in “Songs of Tagore”, and with fusion musician/composers like Salman Ahmad (Junoon), Douglas Cuomo, Gary Lucas & Najma Akhtar (on their joint album "Rishte") etc. He has composed music for, and performed in, two off-Broadway theatrical productions. He has also performed in many prestigious venues like the UN General Assembly, Indian Consulate, City Center, Lincoln Center & Asia Society in NYC, Place des Arts (Montreal), the Google Amphitheater (Palo Alto) etc.

Since 2006 Dibyarka has been an integral part of Chhandayan, an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Indian Classical music in North America. He oversees many of its activities and functions including publicity, concert arrangement and event management. His contributions to the organization are invaluable, especially for events like the All Night Concert.
