Pandit Shyamal Bose &
Pandit Shankar Ghosh - Tabla
Vilambit Tintaal (A rhythmic cycle of 16
beats in slow tempo) Recorded Live from Concert. Occasion : This performance took place on January 11th, 1986 at Ashutosh Birth Centenary Hall, Calcutta, India as part of Chhandayan’s first three-day annual conference. Background : It was a historical duet. Pt. Shyamal Bose and Pt. Shankar Ghosh were bosom friends from early childhood. They also learned pretty much from the same gurus – Pt. Anathnath Bose, Ud. Firoz Khan and Pt. Gyan Prakash Ghosh. As they matured, they went their own ways to develop individual styles distinctly different from one another, almost institutionalized with large followings. In this performance, they united after a long time passing through several decades of their lives and it was memorable to see them together on stage again with mutual love and appreciation. |
